This includes the ability to change your painting to the desired artwork, see your last death location, and get notified when a tool or armor piece is going to break soon.
To use the paint changer, you need to sneak, place the painting and then right-click the painting while sneaking. Once you do that, a yellow message should pop up saying you started editing the painting and then you can scroll (or use your numbers) through your hot bar to go through the paintings. To exit the paint changer, just right-click the painting again.
The death location coordinates will appear in chat only to you, after you die, and will also include what world that was in, too.
A low durability message will pop up above your hot bar when your armor piece or tool gets low, at about 20 or lower.
